How do I make a reservation?

The best way to book your cottage is online.  You may also book over the phone. Our website handles all reservation transactions; we process all credit card transactions in a secure environment.

How can I pay?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, debit cards and cash. We accept personal cheques in advance for deposits.

What time is check-in?

Check-in time is from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. Please let us know if you are unable to check-in at this time and we will make arrangements for you to get access to your cottage.

How many people can we have in each cottage?

A: There is a maximum of 4 adults per cottage.

What time is check-out?

Check-out is 11:00 am.

Are the cottages smoking or non-smoking?

All cottages are non-smoking.

Can we bring pets?

Unfortunately, Seaside Cottages no longer allows pets. No exceptions will be made.

How old do I need to be to rent a cottage?

All guests must be 25 or older unless accompanied by a parent. Seaside Cottages is a family-friendly facility. Seaside Cottages will not tolerate any loud or disruptive behaviour on the property.

I have friends or family that will be visiting during our stay at Seaside Cottages. Where can they park?

Each cottage has parking for a maximum of two cars.

Do the cottages have Internet access?

All cottages have complementary high-speed wireless Internet access.

Are washers and dryers available?

Yes, there is a laundry room available to guests from 3 pm to 5 pm Monday – Friday.

Are campfires allowed on the property?

Yes, campfires are allowed on the beach.

Where can I get firewood?

Firewood is available for purchase in Shelburne at several locations including Sobeys or gas stations.

Are fireworks allowed on the property?

No. Seaside Cottages does not allow fireworks on the property.

What’s in the kitchen?

All of our cottages have a refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, coffee pot, coffee filters, toaster, pots and pans, cork screw, can opener, ice trays and lobster pot. We also provide cooking utensils, dishes, silverware and glassware (set of 6 per cottage).

Are linens and towels provided?

Seaside Cottages provides one set of high-thread-count sheets and down comforters with duvets for each bed. One set of six bath, hand and face towels is provided. Daily laundry and maid service is not provided. Kitchen sponges and dish towels are provided.

Where is the nearest grocery Store?

The nearest store is Lockeport Town Market. You can get there by walking the mile-long sandy beach into town or by driving. Town Market has a good selection of food and general needs.

Where is the closest large grocery store?

There is a Sobey’s grocery store in Shelburne.

Where is the closest liquor store?

The closest Nova Scotia Liquor Commission (NSLC) is right in Lockeport.

Where is the nearest Tim Horton’s?

There is a Tim Horton’s in Shelburne right off Highway 103, exit 25.

Does the cottage have cable?

Yes, all cottages have cable TV.

Does the cottage have a DVD player?

Yes, all cottages have DVD players.

Where can I rent DVD movies?

You can rent DVD movies at Town Market, Wilson’s Lydgate Corner Store or at the Lockeport PharmaChoice.

Do the cottages have an alarm clock?

Yes, all cottages have alarm clocks.

Do the cottages have hair dryers?

Yes, all cottages have hair dryers.

Can we use an Internet mapping service or our GPS unit?

You can try, but your results may vary depending on the service you use. Google Maps seems to be better at locating us than many of the others. Our Directions page shows our location on Google Maps, and has other useful travel information.

What is there to do at Seaside Cottages?

Most people come to Seaside Cottages to unwind and relax next to the beautiful unspoiled Atlantic Ocean. Things you can do on the property include walking along the beach, swimming, collecting shells, collecting sea glass, picking blueberries in season, bird watching from your front porch or at our bird sanctuary, playing horse shoes, BBQ-ing, picnicking or building a campfire on the beach.

What do I need to bring?

All of our cottages provide linens, paper products and fully equipped kitchens, so you will only need to bring your personal belongings, toiletries, beach towels, beach chairs and food.
