Seaside Cottages is located on four oceanfront acres in beautiful Lockeport, Nova Scotia. The property includes a private one acre freshwater wildlife bird sanctuary. In addition, guests can spend hours watching shore birds right from their own cottage deck.

Locke’s Island Birding & Hiking Tours

Seaside Cottages has partnered with Locke’s Island Birding & Hiking Tours to provide our guests with a rare opportunity to Bird with Dean Fiske, a top Nova Scotia Birding Expert.

Locke’s Island Birding & Hiking Tours enables Birders, nature lovers, wildlife photographers and outdoor enthusiasts to view a large variety of bird species to add to your "life list."

The primary birding site is Matthew’s Lake, where opportunities to view bird life are among the best in Nova Scotia. Matthew’s Lake plays host to more than 260 species of birds from near and far. The tours are 4 -5 hours in length and provide ample opportunity to view waterfowl, shore birds, song birds and birds of prey.

In addition to bird life, other types of wildlife in the area include moose, bear, fox, bobcat, deer, mink and porcupine. These viewing opportunities present little danger to birding participants.

Tours are available Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations are required.
