Booking FAQs
How do I make a reservation?
The best way to book your cottage is online by selecting the ‘Book Now’ tab. You may also book over the phone. Our website handles all reservation transactions. We process all credit card transactions in a secure environment.
How can I pay?
We accept e-Transfer, cash, VISA and Mastercard. We also accept personal cheques in advance for deposits.
How many people can we have in each cottage?
There is a maximum of 4 adults per cottage or a family of 5 (2 adults 3 children). The cottages have 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with twin beds. The couch is not a pull-out. Reservations with a 5th guest will require a rollaway bed to ensure all guests can sleep comfortably (mandatory $25/night).
How many people can we have in each beachfront bunkie?
There is a maximum of 2 adults per bunkie or a family of 3 (if the child is 0-4 years old). The bunkie has one queen bed.
How old do I need to be to rent a cottage or bunkie?
Guests must be at least 19 years old to rent the Beachfront Bunkies.
Cottage guests must be 25 or older unless accompanied by a parent. Seaside Cottages is a family-friendly facility and will not tolerate any loud or disruptive behaviour on the property. All cottages must have at least one adult (25 years or older) occupant.
What time is check-in?
Check-in time is after 3:00pm. If you plan on arriving later than 7:00 pm, please let us know and we will make arrangements for you to get access to your cottage. You will receive a pre-arrival email from us the week prior to your arrival with more details on check-in.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is before or by 11:00 am.
Are the cottages and bunkies smoking or non-smoking?
All of the buildings at Seaside Cottages are non-smoking. Smoking (cigarettes, cannabis or vaping) is not permitted inside the cottages or bunkies.
We ask that you be respectful of non-smokers and not smoke near any cottages/bunkies. An additional $250 cleaning fee will be applied, should smoking occur within the cottages/bunkies or littering of cigarette butts on the property. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Can we bring pets?
Well behaved dogs will be permitted in Starfish Cottage (#3) and Beachfront Bunkie “Minke Whale” only, for an additional $15/day or $80/week. All other cottages will maintain a no pets policy. Please refer to our Pet Policies page for more information (under the ‘Rates’ tab).
Amenity FAQs
What’s in the cottage kitchens?
Our cottages have a refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, coffee pot, coffee filters, toaster, pots and pans, cork screw, can opener, ice trays and lobster pot. We also provide cooking utensils, dishes, silverware and glassware (set of 6 per cottage).
We keep less frequently used items in our supply building. If there is something you cannot find (blender, slow cooker, outdoor propane burner, etc.), please contact us, as we will likely have it!
Are beach towels provided?
We ask that you bring your own beach towels, please do not bring the cottage bath towels outside or to the beach. If you forgot yours, beach towels are available for purchase in the office.
Are linens and towels provided?
The cottages have one sheet set and duvet for each bed. Six bath, hand and face towels are provided. Laundry and maid service is not provided. For stays longer than 1 week, a change of linens will be provided weekly. In the cottages, kitchen sponges, dish soap, and dish towels are also provided.
The Bunkies will have bed linens provided and towels located in the shared washroom.
Do the cottages and bunkies have Internet access?
All cottages and bunkies have fibre-optic high-speed complimentary internet access. Direct ethernet connection is also possible in the cottages.
Does the cottage have a TV?
Yes, all cottages have TV’s with built in DVD players and Roku Sticks for premium streaming services. You can also connect your own devices via HDMI. The bunkies do not have TVs.
Do the cottages have an alarm clock?
Yes, all cottages have alarm clocks.
Do you provide hair dryers?
Yes, all cottages have hair dryers. The Beachfront Bunkie has a hair dryer in the shared washroom.
I’m staying in the cottages – What do I need to bring?
All cottages have linens, paper products to get you started and fully equipped kitchens, so you will only need to bring your personal belongings, extra paper products, toiletries, beach towels, beach chairs and food.
I’m staying in the bunkies – What do I need to bring?
All bunkies have linens, toilet paper is provided in the shared washroom, along with bath towels.
You should bring cooking supplies, dishes and utensils, personal belongings, paper towel, toiletries, beach towels, beach chairs and food. We recommend bringing a cooler for food. Ice can be purchased at local Lockeport stores. Coffee and tea is available for purchase in the Seaside Library.
Are we able to do laundry?
Currently not on-site. There are 2 laundry facilities in close proximity to the cottages. Please ask us for directions.
Are campfires allowed on the property?
Yes, campfires are allowed on the beach, and according to provincial restrictions on brush burning and campfires. Please always check www.novascotia.ca/burnsafe/ for daily updates. Fire pits can be made on the upper part of the beach using nearby rocks.
Where can I get firewood?
Firewood is available for purchase at Town Market, or in Shelburne at several locations including Sobeys or gas stations.
Are fireworks allowed on the property?
No. Seaside Cottages does not allow fireworks on the property.
What can be found in the office?
We have a wide selection of books, DVDs, beach toys, crafts, etc. that can be borrowed. We also offer Keurig by the cup and beach towels, available for purchase.
Local Area FAQs
What is there to do at Seaside Cottages?
Most people come to Seaside Cottages to unwind and relax next to the beautiful unspoiled Atlantic Ocean. Things you can do on the property include walking along the beach, swimming, kayaking, surfing, collecting shells, collecting sea glass, bird watching from your front porch, hiking the Ginger Hill trails, playing horseshoes, bocci or washer-toss, BBQ-ing, picnicking or building a campfire on the beach.

What is your physical address?
211 Locke Street, Lockeport, Nova Scotia, Canada
Can we use an internet mapping service or our GPS unit?
Google Maps seems to be better at locating us than many of the others. Our Directions page shows our location on Google Maps, and has other useful travel information.
What is the weather like?

Where is the nearest grocery Store?
The nearest store is Lockeport Town Market. You can get there by walking the mile-long sandy beach or boardwalk into town, or by driving. Town Market has a good selection of food and general needs. Also very close by is Lydgate Corner Store (Lock, Stock & Barrel) only ~2.7km away, which has a large selection of foods, hardware items and gas!
Where is the closest large grocery store?
There is a Sobeys grocery store in Shelburne (about 25 minutes away). The next closest is Superstore in Liverpool (about 40 minutes away).
Where is the closest liquor store?
The closest Nova Scotia Liquor Commission (NSLC) is right in Lockeport.
Where is the nearest Tim Hortons?
There is a Tim Hortons in Shelburne right off Highway 103, exit 25.
