Booking FAQs
How do I make a reservation?
Your seaside getaway is just a click away! Simply select the “Book Now” tab on our website to reserve instantly. Prefer to speak with a real human? Give us a call — we love chatting with guests. All bookings and payments are processed securely through our online system.
How can I pay?
We accept e-Transfer, cash, Visa, and Mastercard. Deposits can also be made by personal cheque when sent in advance.
How many people can we have in each cottage?
Our cottages comfortably host up to 4 adults, or a family of 5 (2 adults + 3 children).
Each cottage has two bedrooms — one queen and one with twin beds.
For groups of 5, we add a rollaway bed ($25/night) to keep everyone cozy.
How many people can we have in each beachfront bunkie?
Each bunkie is designed for up to 2 adults, or a small family of 3 if your child is under age 5. All bunkies feature a comfy queen bed and plenty of ocean breeze.
How old do I need to be to rent a cottage or bunkie?
To book a Beachfront Bunkie, guests must be 19+.
To book a cottage, guests must be 25+, unless staying with a parent.
We’re a peaceful, family-friendly property, so at least one cottage guest must be 25 or older.
What time is check-in?
Check-in begins at 3:30 pm.
If you’re arriving after 9 pm, just let us know — we’ll make sure your cottage is easy to access.
You’ll receive a helpful pre-arrival email before your stay.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is before 10:30 am.
Are the cottages and bunkies smoking or non-smoking?
All buildings at Seaside Cottages are 100% smoke-free (cigarettes, cannabis, vaping).
If you smoke, please step well away from buildings and pathways.
A $250 cleaning fee applies if smoking occurs indoors or if cigarette butts are left on the property — let’s keep our beach beautiful!
Can we bring pets?
We love well-behaved pups!
Dogs are welcome in Starfish Cottage (#3) and the Minke Whale bunkie.
Pet fee: $15/day or $80/week.
All other accommodations remain pet-free.

What’s in the cottage kitchens?
Our fully equipped kitchens include:

Need something extra? We have lobster pots, blenders, slow cookers, propane burners, etc. available. Just ask!
Are beach towels provided?
Please bring your beach towels from home.
Cottage bath towels must stay inside.
If you forget, we occasionally have beach towels available to borrow.
Are linens and towels provided?
Cottages include:

Dish soap, dish towels, and a kitchen sponge

Weekly linen refresher for stays of 7+ nights

Laundry and maid service is not provided.
Do the cottages and bunkies have Internet access?
Yes! Enjoy free, fibre-optic high-speed internet in every cottage and bunkie.
Cottages also offer a wired ethernet connection.
Does the cottage have a TV?
Yes — each cottage includes a TV with:

Roku Stick for streaming

HDMI connection for your own devices
The bunkies do not have TVs — ideal if you’re craving an unplugged escape.
Do the cottages have an alarm clock?
Yes, all cottages have alarm clocks.
Do you provide hair dryers?
All cottages include a hair dryer.
The shared bunkie washroom also has one for guest use.
I’m staying in the cottages – What do I need to bring?
You’ll want to pack:

Extra paper products if desired
We provide linens, a starter set of paper products, and a fully equipped kitchen.
I’m staying in the bunkies – What do I need to bring?
All bunkies have linens, toilet paper is provided in the shared washroom, along with bath towels.
Please bring:

Cooler for food (highly recommended)

Ice is available in town.
Are we able to do laundry?
Not on-site, but there are two laundromats nearby. Just ask for directions.
Are campfires allowed on the property?
Yes — beach campfires are welcome when provincial conditions permit.
Check daily updates at novascotia.ca/burnsafe.
Fire pits can be created using beach rocks along the upper shore.
Where can I get firewood?
Firewood is available at Lockeport Town Market, and also at various Shelburne locations including grocery stores and gas stations.
Are fireworks allowed on the property?
No. Seaside Cottages does not allow fireworks on the property.

What is your physical address?

Can we use an internet mapping service or our GPS unit?
Google Maps seems to be better at locating us than many of the others. Our Directions page shows our location on Google Maps, and has other useful travel information.
What is the weather like?
Please visit The Weather Network – Lockeport, NS to get local weather conditions.
Where is the nearest grocery Store?
Lockeport Town Market is closest — reachable by car or by a beautiful walk across the beach and boardwalk.
Lydgate Corner Store (Lock, Stock & Barrel) is just 2.7 km away and offers groceries, hardware, and gas.
Where is the closest large grocery store?

Sobeys (Shelburne) — 25 minutes

Superstore (Liverpool) — 40 minutes
Where is the closest liquor store?
The closest Nova Scotia Liquor Commission (NSLC) is right in Lockeport.
Where is the nearest Tim Hortons?
There is a Tim Hortons in Shelburne right off Highway 103, exit 25.
